About Mulya Amri

Mulya is an urban transformation enabler.

Mulya facilitates cities and regions to become more livable, sustainable, and attractive to investments as a way to boost competitiveness and inclusive economic and social progress. 

Mulya is also an educator, researcher, author, and public speaker. He has written 14 books, 8 book chapters, 9 journal articles, and numerous op-eds and research reports. He frequently speaks on academic and policy forums, and often interviewed by the media. He also often moderates ministers, governors, CEOs, and civil society leaders. 

​​With more than 20 years' experience, including 12 years internationally.

Mulya lived for 10 years in Singapore and 2 years in Los Angeles. He was Deputy Director at the Asia Competitiveness Institute, National University of Singapore, Senior Urban Development Specialist at the World Bank, Program Director at the Jakarta Property Institute, Research Director at Katadata Insight Center, and Project manager at HOK, one of the world's largest architectural firms. In his work, Mulya interacts intensively with business, government, and political leaders, as well as the civil society - in Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, China, and the US. Recently he contributed as part of Prabowo-Gibran's expert board for the 2023-2024 presidential campaign and transition period. 

Now building the capacity of young political leaders and business leaders in Indonesia

Currently, Mulya is Faculty Chair at Golkar Institute, a school of government and public policy established by the Golongan Karya party to build the capacity of Indonesia's young legislative members, mayors, and governors. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the ITB School of Business and Management, where he teaches economics for MBA students from various backgrounds. Mulya is also part of a team preparing the development of KADIN Institute, the think tank and training arm of Indonesia's Chamber of Commerce.

Educated in Public policy, focusing in urban and infrastructure development 

Mulya holds a Ph. D. in public policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, a Master of Arts in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Architecture from the Bandung Institute of Technology. He is also a recipient of a Fulbright scholarship from the United States government, a Chevening scholarship from the British government to study for a master's degree at the London School of Economics.
